Jesus takes Twitter by storm. Many stories go viral but just a simple picture. A man takes was pictured running the NYC Marathon barefoot and dressed like JESUS. That's right running a marathon as Jesus. It's very interesting and makes you wonder why is he doing so. Is it for likes on Facebook or for the sake of going viral. In the link above it talks about how many people have tweeted, facebooked, or placed the picture on instagram. No one yet knows why he did at least I can found out why. However, I am sure was done for likes or at least to get us talking and we are talking. So I guess job well done sir.
Do you think this was done for likes and what do you think about people doing similar stunts has he done? Fun and refreshing or a little crazy ?
I think this story is a complete waste of the media's and everyone else's time. There are absurd antics going on everyday on hundreds of college campuses and elsewhere, and for this to gain national news attention simply because it was at a national venue is sad. What we are basically saying as a country, or at least what the media is saying is, "Knowing this information will benefit society." Of course, they are not thinking in terms of societal benefit but rather "Airing this will increase our ratings." In conclusion, coverage of this simply incentivize other people to do similarly pointless stunts. There are other ways of raising awareness for a message, for instance by actually doing something about it, such as running to raise money or something of that nature. Not just running to gain attention.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, who knows why this man did this. I completely agree with Plamen that it was a waste of the media's time and attention. However, I will say this. If it wasn't just for the attention, it makes me somewhat uneasy. Any sort of religious zealotry brings up instant wariness for me. But very interesting post!!!
